Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed delighted audiences with their chemistry in the iconic Pakistani series Zindagi Gulzar Hai 12 years ago. Now, the two are set to make their long-awaited comeback with a new drama titled Barzakh. The makers of the show dropped a teaser, which has further fueled the excitement of Fawad and Sanam’s reunion. The teaser features several actors of the show applying kajal to their eyes s soothing music plays in the background.
In the captions, Fawad revealed that the official trailer will be released on July 1 and the show is scheduled to debut on July 19 on Zindagi YouTube and ZEE5 Shows.
“Eyes lined with secrets, ready to reveal the mysteries within. When all else withers will love endure? Trailer launching on 1st July – are you ready for the journey? Barzakh, Premieres 19th July on Zindagi YouTube and ZEE5 Shows,” he wrote.
Interestingly, the upcoming show will also mark Fawad’s return to Indian screens after an eight-year hiatus. The Pakistani actor last appeared in Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Earlier, talking about the show and meaning behind the title Barzakh, the show’s writer, Asim Abbasi in an interview with Indian Express said, “Barzakh literally means purgatory. But it has its root in Persian and Arabic and also means a veil between two different worlds. At the core of it is a dysfunctional family, we are exploring a father’s relationship with his son, grandson, we are exploring a man coming to the end of his life and reflecting back, the loves he won and lost.”
Commenting on the show’s casting, Abbasi explained that he wrote the story without any actors in mind. However, Sanam Saeed became a natural choice for the role as she has this “stoicism, but beauty and empathy in her eyes that her character here needed.”
Abbasi did not think of Fawad’s casting initially. The writer said that he thought Fawad may look for a hero-driven role and Barzakh required equal weightage to all the actors.
But the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Hai actor loved the script and was eager to become a part of the show.
“It wasn’t planned from my side that this is a casting coup of bringing these two together after a long time. They were well suited and hungry to do something that was different,” Asim Abbasi added.
