Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar has been getting praise from all corners. Starring Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjida Sheikh and Shamrin Sehgal in the lead roles, the show is set in the pre-independence era and chronicles the lives of courtesans of Heeramandi, Lahore. In addition to these Bollywood divas, the show also featured several television actors including Jayati Bhatia, Shruti Sharma, and Indresh Malik.
Recently, several celebs including Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Genelia D’Souza and Ali Fazal among others expressed their admiration for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial series and the performances of the star cast. The latest one to join the bandwagon is television actor Dheeraj Dhoopar.
Taking to Instagram stories, Dheeraj lauded his Sasural Simar Ka co-star Jayati Bhatia for her performance in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. “I’m so proud of you Jayati Bhatia! The way you lit up every character you play phatto is one of your best works! Love you dher sara! Meet me soonest,” the TV actor wrote in the caption.
In Heeramandi, Jayati portrayed the role of Phatto, an aide of Manisha Koirala’s character Mallikajaan. Recently, in an interview with Zoom, Jayati shared her experience of working with Manisha Koirala in the show. “I am amazed by that woman; I am absolutely mesmerised by her dedication towards her craft. She is one of the few actresses from our times, who has worked in both North and South with some of the biggest names in the industry.”
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar was released on the OTT platform Netflix on May 1. Besides the leading ladies, the show also featured actors Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman and veteran actor Farida Jalal in pivotal roles.
Apart from the SLB directorial series, Jayati is also known for her performances in TV serials like Sasural Simar Ka, which featured Dipika Kakar in the lead role, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kuchh Is Tara, Sasural Genda Phool and Internet Wala Love.
Dheeraj, on the other hand, is a renowned television actor. He is known for his performances in TV serials like Sasural Simar Ka, Kundali Bhagya, Sherdill Shergill and Subhagyavati Bhava. He recently made his OTT debut with the web series Tatlubaaz which also starred actress Nargis Fakhri in the lead role. Currently, Dheeraj is seen in the tv show Rabb Se Hai Dua as Subhaan Siddiqui opposite actor Yesha Rughani.
