From Constipation To Insomnia, Nutritionist Shares 3 Fruit Juices To Combat Various Health Issues

“Are fruit juices healthy?” has long been a topic of debate in the world of food and nutrition. While many experts acknowledge the health benefits of drinking certain juices, others always advise eating whole fruits and not juicing them. Today, we are not going to meddle in this debate. Instead, this article focuses on the health benefits of certain fruit juices, as explained by Nutritionist and Disease Reversal Expert Neha Ranglani in a recent Instagram video. After agreeing with the popular advice to not “drink your fruits, eat them,” the expert adds that there are three juices that she “definitely recommends for certain therapeutic uses.” What are these juices? How can they be beneficial for you? Read on to find out in detail.

Here Are Three Powerful Fruit Juices Along With Their Health Benefits:

1. Prune Juice

Prunes are the dried version of plums. According to the nutritionist, “Prune contains a compound called sorbitol – a sugar alcohol which has a laxative effect on our body and pulls water in our intestine. It helps to bulk the stool and eases constipation, which helps with regular bowel movement.” Prune juice is very good for people struggling with constipation and irregular bowel movements.

How To Make Prune Juice: Soak the dried prunes in warm water for 30 minutes. Now, blend them in a grinder with more water. Strain the liquid from the pulp, add sugar if required and your juice is ready!

2. Cranberry Juice

Cranberries are small, red fruits known for their tart flavour. A dessert favourite, these are widely used for making sauces, juices, and muffins. Cranberries have multiple health benefits.

Talking about cranberry juice, the nutritionist explains that it “contains a compound called proanthocyanidins, which helps to prevent the growth of e-coli bacteria in a urinary tract and prevents the bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract, thereby helping to flush it out and get rid of urinary tract infections.” Further, cranberry juice acidifies our urine, making an environment that is less favourable for the growth of these unwanted bacteria that cause UTIs.

How To Make Cranberry Juice: Boil cranberries in water for 20 minutes. Strain juice through a fine strainer lined with a cheesecloth. Reheat juice till almost boiling. Allow it to cool down, refrigerate and enjoy once chilled.

3. Tart Cherry Juice

Tart cherries are often consumed dried, frozen, or juiced. Talking about tart cherry juice, the expert shares that this juice is a “natural source of the hormone melatonin, which is a hormone that helps us with our sleep-wake cycles.”

So when you consume tart cherry juice, you increase the level of melatonin that helps to “sleep better, improve the sleep quality and the sleep duration.” This juice is beneficial for people struggling with insomnia or any other sleep issue.

How To Make Tart Cherry Juice: Remove the pits from 2 cups of tart cherries. Put the cherries in a blender and add water. Blend the mixture until it becomes smooth. Strain the juice and enjoy.
