Lakhs of candidates are eagerly waiting for the Trainer Graduate Teacher (TGT) and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) recruitment examinations in Uttar Pradesh. As per the recent update, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has made an announcement regarding a noteworthy change. The latest update is regarding the selection process for the recruitment of various posts. As per the notification, General Studies will also be included in the examination from now onwards. For the recruitment, candidates will have to appear for a written examination for the posts of TGT and PGT. Now, as per the rules of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission Act 2023 released recently, General Studies (GS) will be included in the written examination. Earlier, only subject-related questions were asked to the candidates.
The written examination for TGT candidates will be categorised into General Awareness Quantitative Aptitude, General English and Concerned Subjects. For PGT candidates, the written round will be the same, but every candidate’s per year of service will also be calculated in the overall marks.
In the recently issued 36-page rules of the Education Service Selection Commission, there is a lack of specific rules for the recruitment of the posts of headmasters and principals in aided high schools and inter-colleges. This lack of rule has led to uncertainty ever since the announcement was made. Till now, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board has been recruiting for the posts of Principal in aided colleges based on the interview round. The new rules and regulations, and the recruitment of principals in aided undergraduate and postgraduate colleges have been stated clearly. More clarity is needed regarding the recruiting process for high schools and intermediate colleges. This ambiguity has left the stakeholders and even candidates in a state of indecision as the rules do not mention specific criteria for these important educational roles.
This absence of specific rules has further caused uncertainty in the overall recruitment process and has prompted the need for clarification to immediately address this issue and get the selection process going.
