The University of Kashmir has postponed all examinations scheduled for May 7, 2025. Officials stated that fresh dates for the rescheduled papers will be announced separately.
This comes hours after India carried out coordinated airstrikes targeting nine terror infrastructure sites across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and parts of Pakistan. The overnight operation marks a pivotal response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, including a Nepali national, nearly two weeks ago.
According to Indian Army sources, the strikes were carefully planned to avoid escalation—focusing solely on dismantling terror camps and launchpads, while steering clear of Pakistani military installations. Despite the intensity of the operation, officials underscored that the move was a “measured and calibrated response” aimed at rooting out cross-border terrorism.
Meanwhile, security has been ramped up across the Kashmir Valley, especially in and around Srinagar. A surge in air traffic and visible troop movement suggests elevated operational preparedness and increased surveillance in the region.
The postponement of university exams reflects the administration’s precautionary measures amid ongoing military operations and volatile security conditions in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
